Curriculum for Yoga Teacher Certification


Located in Tampa, Florida our yoga teacher training program follows the Yoga Alliance®’s Requirements to have a well rounded curriculum. Through our program prospective yoga teachers will learn how to digest this information, apply it to their own lives, and teach others if desire. We have many students who simply take the yoga teacher to simply learn more about themselves and how yoga can create a better sense of calm. Our yoga certification program follows is the full 200 hours and broken down into the following format.

1. Techniques, Training and Practice: 100 hours

A bulk of the training will teach trainees how yoga works and how to share this knowledge with others. Topics include: pranayama, meditation, asana, chakra study and other yoga techniques. Trainees will learn how to apply these yoga principles to their own life to enhance their wellbeing as well as having the tools to teach others.

2. Teaching Methodology: 25 hours

Practicing yoga is one thing but teaching others is a different ballgame. Topics covered will include learning how to teach authentically, teaching to special populations, establishing safe boundaries, how to safely provide adjustments, and the business of yoga.

3. Anatomy and Physiology: 20 hours

As a yoga teacher, it’s important to have an understanding of anatomy and the body to ensure students are practicing yoga to feel better and not injure themselves. This portion of the yoga teacher training will help students understand the body and how to ensure students have a thriving yoga practice, free from injury.

4. Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers: 30 hours

Topics that will be covered include the analysis of the Bhagavad Gita, the practice of nonviolence, ethical considerations, karma, and how to live these concepts for a more balanced life.

5. Practicum: 10 hours

The practicum portion of the program will allow students to teach what they have learned from the program preparing them to teach others. Feedback will be given from the Ashley to help develop teaching skills.

6. Electives: 15 hours

These will vary from training to training but in the past have covered unique topics to expand one’s repertoire. Past topics have included: Laughter Yoga, Prenatal Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga and more.
